banking in China

    Hi there,

Yet an other puzzle for me,

It seems that China is under some serious pressure to revaluate her currency and as I was planning to live there for some time, I thought I could open a bank account there rather then using my atm card from home to take up money. I will use a atm machine in china to get me the money from my bank account in Holland.( no transfer cost and commission)

So I was wondering, will the bank of china accept the atm ticket as prove that I got the RMB legally and how much can I maximally put on this bank account with out getting in troubles.

Any other advise about opening a bank account in China ( which ones are allowed to do so and who is the best)is very welcome

    Thanks Marco

You can open a bank account in China really easy. I still have one there myself too.

You just go to the Bnk of China and tell them you want to open account. It goes just like that. No problem! There is no maximum ammount you can put in there, as far as I know.

I personally have rather bad experiences with opening a bank account in China. Since - at that time - I did not have a official residence permit I simply couldn't. The only solution was opening a account with a HK-bank and using a ATM in mainland China.

Strange… I did not have an official residence permit also and they never asked for it. They just opened it for me.

What do you mean, ‘strange’????? We talk about Chinese banking clercks here! Anything can happen :)

:) Yeah… I guess you are right about that! Anything can happen in China.
